The most common imaging finding of the kidney is cysts. Simple cysts are fluid filled structures without
any solid components. Simple cysts are benign. They can grow in size but rarely cause symptoms.
Complex cysts have internal structures or calcifications and need to be followed carefully.

A solid growth in the kidney is usually a kidney cancer. Cancer will grow and spread to other parts of
the body if given enough time. A small tumor is usually easily curable whereas a larger tumor has
a higher risk of spread. Kidney cancer is only curable if diagnosed and treated before it spreads.
Prompt diagnosis, staging and a full discussion of appropriate treatments with your doctor is essential.
