Jon O. Marks, M.D.

Dr. Jon Marks has been in practice since 1981. He is on staff at New York’s Beth Israel Medical Center. In addition to his general urology practice in Greenwich Village, he is Medical Director of Metropolitan Lithotriptor Associates, a professional corporation which operates kidney stone treatment centers located in Manhattan, Westchester and Long Island.

Dr. Marks completed his undergraduate education in engineering and has a graduate degree in aeronautics and astronautics from NYU. He completed medical training at New York Medical College in 1976; interned in medicine and surgery and completed urology training in Lenox Hill Hospital, New York, in 1981. He specializes in a form of minimally invasive kidney stone surgery called endourology. He started the endourology program at Beth Israel and has trained 15 generations of urology residents in these specialized techniques. Other areas of interest include interstitial cystitis and male infertility.

Dr. Marks is also Medical Director of Repro Lab, an andrology laboratory and sperm bank which provides cryopreservation services to fertility and cancer patients. He has a special interest in computer-based clinical information systems and, until recently, was chairman of the clinical records committee of Beth Israel’s Medical Board.

Society memberships include the American Urological Association, the American Lithotripsy Society, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the EndoUrology Society, the Society for Urology and Engineering, the American Medical Association, National Association of Physician Office Laboratorians and the Fraternal Order of Police (Police Surgeons Lodge #23). He is a charter member of the Society for Male Reproduction. Dr. Marks is certified by the American Board of Urology. Dr. Marks is married, has three children ages 14 to 24 and lives in Westchester. He plays acceptable piano and mediocre golf.

Steven M. Berman, M.D.

Dr. Steven Berman has been in practice since 1986. He is on staff at Beth Israel Medical Center, St. Vincent’s Medical Center and Montefiore-Albert Einstein Medical Center in The Bronx. In addition to practicing general urology, Dr. Berman has a particular interest in urologic oncology – kidney, bladder and prostate cancer. In 1996, Dr. Berman helped establish a Prostate Cancer Brachytherapy Center (radiation seed implants) at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in New York.

Dr. Berman completed his medical school training at State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in 1981. He then interned in general surgery and completed his urology residency training at Montefiore-Albert Einstein Medical Center in 1986. In 1990, after four years in private practice in New York and The Bronx, Dr. Berman joined Urological Associates (Dr. Bernard Fruchtman and Dr. Jon Marks). With the addition of Dr. Mark Stein in 1997 and Dr. Fruchtman’s retirement in 1998, the practice is currently known as Advanced Urology, PC.

Society memberships include American Urological Association, New York Section of the AUA, Association of Clinical Urologists, New York State Urological Association, American Medical Association and the Medical Society of New York. Dr. Berman is certified by the American Board of Urology. Dr. Berman practices at Beth Israel Medical Center and St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center.  He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Urology at both Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the New York Medical College.

Dr. Berman is married and has three children ages 16, 23 and 26. He enjoys most sports, in particular, tennis and skiing.
